Read a chart in the KP system

Open KP

Go to Modes → KP. It reads the chart in the header. The KP chart on the left can be drawn South, North, East or Circular with the buttons above it, and your choice is remembered.

The marks follow KP practice: * no planets in its stars, + in its own star, # in its own sub, (R) retrograde, [e] empty cusp and [B] Badhaka house.

Set the ayanamsa and node

Ayanamsa offers KP (Krishnamurti), the default, KP New and Lahiri. Node offers Mean, the KP standard, or True. The line under them confirms the Placidus cusps, the ayanamsa in degrees and the node in use.

Read planets and cusps

Planets and Cusps lists each planet's position, nakshatra, the houses it owns and occupies, and its sign, star, sub and sub-sub lords; CSL names the cusps it is sub lord of.

Cusp details gives the same lords for the twelve cusps with their occupants; select a cusp to see its significators. Rahu and Ketu shows the planets the nodes represent, and Positional strength each planet's dignity by sign.

Find the significators

Significators gives the houses each planet signifies, from Type A (strongest) to Type D, the planets signifying each house from A to E, and Panchadha maitri.

Effective Sig. takes one house from Select house: its positive significators, the negative ones of the 12th from it, and those eliminated because they signify both.

Check the ruling planets

Fruitful Sig. shows the ruling planets at the moment of judgment, worked out at the chart's place: the day lord and the sign, star and sub lords of the Moon and of the rising Lagna. Recalculate for now moves them to the present moment.

Fruitful significators lists each house's significators, with the ones that are also ruling planets in the Fruitful column. These are the ones that give results now.

Use the four steps, aspects and dasha

4-Step lists the planets in Vimshottari order; select one to open its four steps: its own houses, its star lord's, its sub lord's and its sub lord's star lord's. Aspects switches between Western aspects, with applying and separating, and whole-sign Vedic aspects.

Vimshottari dasha, under the chart, gives the balance at birth and four columns: Mahadasha, Antara, Pratyantara and Sookshma. It opens on the periods running now, marked with a dot; pick a period to list the ones inside it.
