Find planetary lines with astrocartography

Draw the birth chart's planetary lines on the world map, check which run near a place, and add parans and local space.

    Open the map

    Go to Western → Astrocartography. The map draws each planet's lines for the moment of birth: AC where it was rising, DC setting, MC where it culminated, at its highest in the sky, and IC where it was at its lowest, below the Earth. AC and MC lines are solid, DC and IC dashed. Click a line to see which one it is.

    The lines are worked out from where the planets really are in the sky, so the zodiac chosen on other screens does not change them. The dot marks the birthplace.

    Choose what to draw

    Projection switches between In mundo, the planets' true positions with their latitude, and In zodiaco, which matches a relocated chart's degrees exactly. Node chooses the true or mean node, and Lines turns AC, DC, MC and IC on or off.

    The planet buttons choose whose lines to draw; Chiron starts off. All, Classical 7 (Sun to Saturn) and None set them in one click.

    Check a place

    Search a city under Lines near a place, or click anywhere on the map; a city you search is centred on the map. Every line within the distance chosen in Within (3°, 5°, 8° or 10°) is listed with how many kilometres away it runs and on which side.

    Add parans and local space

    Tick Parans to mark where two planets were on angles at the same moment, and a Parans table appears below the map. A paran is read right round the globe at its latitude, so with a place chosen, Parans at this latitude lists those within 1.5° of it.

    Tick Local space to draw the compass direction of each planet from the birthplace, read for which way to travel or where to place things.

    Read the line positions

    Line positions gives the longitude of each planet's MC and IC lines, the latitude where it was directly overhead, and its right ascension and declination.
